Public support for renewable energy remains high

The latest Public Attitudes Tracking Survey carried out by the Government reveals that support for renewable energy remains high at 76%.

The poll, published by the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) was carried out in September surveyed over 2,000 households in the UK. This poll comes amidst a time that Government policy is focusing on reducing renewable energy subsidies rather than supporting them.

Support for individual renewable technologies are broken down as follows:

  • biomass (65%),
  • on-shore wind (66%),
  • off-shore wind (73%),
  • wave and tidal (73%),
  • solar (80%)
